Privacy notice

This website is run by Evolvora (Pty) Ltd trading as Fable, based in Polokwane, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here, and we handle it in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect, and why

When you join the Fable list

• Your first name and email address, so we can tell you where Fable pops up next and contact you if you win a prize.
• The date and time you agreed to receive our emails, as our record of your consent.
• Who invited you, if you joined through a friend's link, so that we can count referrals for the sharing competition.
• A scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address, used only to spot fake or automated sign-ups. We do not store the address itself.

We only email people who ticked the box asking us to. Every email will tell you how to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us at any time.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to send and use it only to reply to you.

When you browse

We count a small number of actions, such as page visits and clicks on “Get directions”, as anonymous daily totals. These counts are not linked to you, and we do not use advertising trackers or tracking cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, also gives us anonymous visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics), which work without cookies and do not identify you.

Your browser stores two small items on your own device so the site works: the code of the friend who invited you, and the key to your personal link page. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

Our sign-up form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that tells people from bots. Cloudflare processes technical information about your browser and connection to do this.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with other companies for their marketing. The website and its database are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes information on our behalf and may do so on servers outside South Africa.

How long we keep it

We keep your details for as long as you stay on the Fable list. If you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, we delete your details, except where we must keep a record by law.

Your rights

You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent to marketing. Email [email protected] and we will help. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

Children

The Fable list is for people aged 18 and over. If you are younger, please ask a parent or guardian to join for you.

Changes

If we change how we use personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
